The BMS-sponsored talk by Dr. Brian S. Kim will cover inflammatory skin diseases that are associated with modules of cytokine, cytokine receptor & intracellular signaling pathways as well as an overview of approved therapeutics targeting these pathways.

The Kim Lab focuses on mechanisms that underlie skin inflammation and the sensation of itch as a fundamental, broad, and model paradigm of neuroimmunology. Employing a variety of techniques in neuroscience and immunology, a major focus of the program is redefining mechanisms by which sensory neurons relay information from both the environment and within the body. Further, the lab is increasingly working to unveil how afferent neurons regulate inflammation within the tissue. Dr. Kim has >100 peer-reviewed publications, multiple NIH grants, designed pivotal clinical trials that led to novel FDA-approved treatments, and is an inventor of itch-centered technologies.
